Thinking About a Safety Cover? Here’s Why Pool Owners Are Upgrading Before Fall

Wait—What Even Is a Safety Cover?

Think of it like the grown-up, upgraded version of those loose winter covers. Instead of a floppy tarp weighed down by water bags and leaves, a safety cover is stretched tight across your pool and anchored directly into your patio or deck. It’s custom-fit, secure, and designed to keep kids, pets, and debris out—while still looking sharp.

It also won’t sag or fill with swamp water (you know the look). And yes—it’s strong enough to walk across. We’re not suggesting you test that on purpose, but it’s definitely comforting if you’ve got curious toddlers or a dog who treats the backyard like a racetrack.

The Three Main Types of Covers We Offer

Every pool is a little different, so we carry multiple styles and colors to help you find the perfect fit—both in function and in looks.

Mesh Covers
    •    These are light and breathable.
    •    Rainwater and snow melt drain through, but debris stays out.
    •    Very low maintenance. Just hose it off and go.
    •    Comes in Green, Blue, Tan, and Gray.

High Shade Mesh
    •    Same idea, but with a tighter weave.
    •    Blocks more sunlight (which helps cut down on algae growth).
    •    Still lets water drain, but catches the tiny stuff better.
    •    Comes in High Shade Green, Blue, Tan, and Grey.

Prestige Solid Covers
    •    Totally blocks water, sun, and debris.
    •    Best for preventing algae and preserving water quality.
    •    Needs a small drain panel or pump, but super sleek look.
    •    Comes in Solid Green, Blue, Tan, and Gray.

We’ve got samples we can show you in person too, so you can feel the difference and see the color options up close.

Why Pool Owners Are Making the Switch

Here’s what we hear from our customers all the time after installing a safety cover:
    •    “Why didn’t I do this sooner?”
    •    “It’s SO much easier in the fall.”
    •    “I don’t worry anymore about my dog or kids getting too close.”

Here’s why they love it:
    •    It’s safe – really safe. ASTM-rated to prevent accidental entry.
    •    It lasts – about 10–15 years with proper care (compared to 2–4 years for tarp covers).
    •    It looks clean – no puddles, no water bags, no sagging.
    •    It saves time – less mess, faster openings, way less maintenance.

Once you make the switch, pool closings start to feel like just another seasonal task—not an all-day headache.

What the Process Looks Like

If you’ve never ordered a safety cover before, here’s what to expect:
    1.    We come out to measure. You don’t need to do anything. Just let us know when works!
    2.    We go over options. We’ll show you the materials, colors, and walk through the quote.
    3.    We handle the order and install. Once your custom-fit cover arrives, we’ll schedule the install and make sure it’s tight and secure.
    4.    We show you how to care for it. A little hose off here and there, and you’re good to go.

If you want it in time for this year’s closing, it’s a good idea to reach out before the fall rush hits so we can get your measurements in early.

Is It Worth the Money?

Totally fair question. Safety covers do cost more upfront than a basic winter cover—but they pay off big time in time, stress, and peace of mind.

You’ll save hours each fall. You won’t have to rebuy a new cover every few years. Your liner lasts longer. And you’ll never have to drain gallons of cold, slimy water off your cover again (you know exactly what I’m talking about).

Plus, they just look better. Clean, custom-fit, and no more flapping around in the wind. Just let us know which one fits your needs best when we schedule your measurement.
